How do I set up a potluck?

Potluck needs an event that takes RSVPs here. Open Manage → Features and press Turn on on the Potluck card, under Food.

To begin with, guests simply say what they are bringing, and every guest sees what everyone else is bringing. The Potluck tab lists it all. These rules in the Potluck sheet change that:

• Guests can sign up until is when the party starts for a new event. Choose A day before, or A time you set, to close the sheet earlier or later; guests see the time on their potluck page, and moving it later opens the sheet again. You and your co-hosts can still add what someone told you in person after it closes.
• Ask for specific dishes is off for a new event. Turn it on to list what you need: on the Potluck tab, press Add an item for each dish, drink or supply, with how many of each, and press Done to keep it (Save item in an app version before 1.4). On the website, Save and add another at the foot of a new item keeps it and opens a blank one. Guests then pick from your list, and an item that is spoken for says so. Turning it off again hides your list from guests and keeps it, with every sign-up.
• Ask on the RSVP form too is on for a new event: the RSVP form also asks Bringing something?, shows what is already coming, and lets a guest say what they will bring, or pick from your list when you ask for specific dishes. Off, guests sign up on their own page after they answer.
• Guests can offer something not on the list appears once you ask for specific dishes, and is on for a new event. Off, guests can only pick from your list.
• What to bring, last in the sheet, is a few lines every guest reads over the potluck and on the RSVP form, such as "Sides and desserts. We've got the mains." Leave it empty for none.

When you ask for specific dishes, each item's row says how many are spoken for; press it to see who is bringing it, change it, move it or Remove it (press twice). You can also drag an item by its grip to change the order (in the app, from version 1.3). What guests offered that is not on your list is under Also coming. On the website you can sign a guest up yourself: open an item and press Someone told you in person, or, with no list, press Add what someone's bringing.

Release beside a sign-up takes that guest's offer off, on a second press. Review the sign-ups as the event approaches. If you change the list after people have chosen, tell anyone whose contribution is affected. Turning Potluck off hides it from guests; the list and every sign-up are kept.
