How do I create and publish an event?
Start an event, complete its basics, then publish it when the guest page is ready.
- Sign in and start an event from your events screen. New to Cut the Cake? On the website, Start your first event free opens the Design room with no account: the same three steps, cover, colors, fonts and sections as below, with the invitation drawn beside them as you go. The first time, the page arrives sealed in a pocketfold; press the seal to open it. It stays in that browser until you select Keep this invitation. You enter your name and email address only then, and the event opens in Design once you open the email's link or enter its code, on any device.
- In Design → Basics, set the title (up to 60 characters; emoji and a few symbols such as € count as more, because the title goes into your guests’ text messages), date, time and place. A new personal event starts named after you, such as "Sam’s Party" at "Sam’s Place", so choosing a date is enough to publish; change either whenever you like.
- Use Look for the cover, colors and fonts, and Details for whether guests RSVP (Ask guests to RSVP, on to start) and the sections guests should read, such as getting there or what to wear.
- Check the preview and resolve any items the Publish control says are still needed.
- Publish, then share the guest link, or add guests and send invitations from Manage → Guests (Manage → Invite in an app version before 1.3).
If you were invited to somebody else's event and don't host anything yet, choose New event in the menu under your initials (in the app, Account → New event), press Make your own at the foot of their invitation, or Start your own event under your invitations. The first time, pressing Continue confirms you're 18 or older, then you land in the Design room.
Publishing makes the guest page available. It does not send invitations automatically.
A new event starts with RSVP on and every other feature off, and the Design room shows only what is on: the Menu and the Guest map join the RSVP in Details once you turn them on, and Potluck once it asks on the form, and Change the wording appears only with Custom wording on. Turn on what suits the event from Manage → Features; your Overview suggests a couple as the event takes shape.
An account holds up to 100 events outside the recycle bin, and one person can start up to 25 events in a day.
Your first published personal event is free, and deleting that event later does not give it back. See What is included for free? before publishing another.
