# Can I sign up with a password instead of an emailed code?

Yes. Choose Choose a password instead when you sign up. You can start your event straight away, and confirm your email with a code before you publish or invite anyone.

Yes. When you sign up, choose **Choose a password instead**, then enter your name, your email address and a password. You are signed in straight away and can start designing your event.

## Confirm your email

We email a 6-digit code to the address you typed. Until you enter it, you can design your event and build your guest list, but you cannot publish, send invitations, add co-hosts or answer an invitation. A notice at the top of each page leads to where the code goes.

If the code does not arrive, look in junk or spam, then choose **Send a new code**. If you typed the address wrong, choose **Use a different address**.

An account whose email is not confirmed within seven days is closed.

## If you already had an account

If your address already has a Cut the Cake account, perhaps from answering an invitation, entering the code signs you in to that account, and your new password works there. We email that address to say its password changed.

## Signing in later

Sign in with your email address and the password you chose, before or after you confirm. You can also always sign in with a code or link sent to your email once it is confirmed. See [How do I set or reset my password?](https://cutthecake.co/help/account/password).
